You can now buy activewear designed for sleep recovery
No longer will you feel the burn after leg day.
We all know that sleep gives our body the time it needs to rest, repair and rejuvenate for peak performance the next day.
But what if we told you that now a form of activewear-meets-sleepwear exists that claims to compliment the recovery process while promoting better sleep? You’d be all over it right?
Well it’s no space age gimmick; it really does exist. Created by Under Armour the Athlete Recovery Sleepwear powered by TB12™ is endorsed by superstar quarter back Tom Brady. And if he says it helps him recover – considering his crazy exercise schedule and peak performance on the field – we’re all ears.
The sleepwear features bioceramic technology – particles that line the garments, but do not impact on comfortability – that absorbs the Infrared wavelengths the body emits throughout sleep and reflects them back as Far Infrared, which can help the body recover faster and improve sleep.
The ‘Far Infrared’ wavelengths have been shown in previous studies to “delay the onset of fatigue induced by muscle contractions” meaning you can exercise harder, for longer. The scientists also discussed that it might help through the “prevention of acid build-up in the muscle tissue”.
The idea is that you don’t wake up after leg day with a build-up of lactic acid, feeling like someone took a baseball bat to your calves.
“I firmly believe that sleep and recovery are critical aspects of an effective and holistic training program,” said Tom Brady, who wears the sleepwear himself.
“Proper sleep has helped me get to where I am today as an athlete and it is something that I continue to rely on every day. I am excited to…bring game-changing sleepwear with the same bioceramics technology I use to athletes all around the world.”
Along with the sleepwear-meets-activewear line, Under Armour have released the UA Record™ app experience.
The app can track your sleep, deliver a detailed analysis of your sleep quality and custom coach you to improve your sleep culture and ensure your habits promote all the rest and rejuvenation your body needs.
Pretty high-tech, if you ask us.
Under Armour’s Athlete Recovery Sleepwear is available now for both men and women priced from $80 – $120 on their website and in Under Armour Brand House stores in Chadstone Shopping Centre, Vic and Pacific Fair, Gold Coast, Qld.
Many parents drive their kid to sleep. This 3yo demanded a Ferrari to do it.
